What Are The Safety Requirements When Using Automotive Cables?

Cables are usually rope-like cables twisted by several or groups of conductors, each insulated from each other, usually wrapped around a center with a highly insulated overlay on the outside. Set in the air or underground, underwater, for telecommunications or power transmission. According to its use, cables can be divided into automotive cables, communication cables and control cables. So when we use car cables, are there any safety requirements? Details are as follows:

Safety requirements when using automotive cables:

1. Simulate various situations that may be encountered in the assembly and use of automotive cable harnesses, establish and continuously improve test methods, and improve the reliability of automotive electrical systems.

2. On the basis of ensuring good insulation performance, the automobile cable should have high heat resistance and aging resistance, and at the same time, it should have good low-smoke flame retardant characteristics when burning, so as to ensure that the loss and damage are minimized.

3. The result of high current transmission leads to high power consumption and heating of components, so automotive cables are designed to withstand higher temperatures, and it can be seen that there is a trend of further increase in temperature requirements.

4. The car cable itself does not need to be shielded, because it does not transmit data like other cables, but it is necessary to prevent or reduce the high-frequency radiation generated by the switching power supply in the system to be induced to the surrounding components through the cable.

The main difference between commonly used automotive cables is that the frame needs to be designed with a rated voltage of 600 V, and if it is applied in commercial vehicles and buses, the rated voltage can reach 1000 V. In comparison, the voltage may be higher. The cables now used in cars powered by internal combustion engines are designed to be rated at 60V.
