What Are The Safety Requirements For Using Car Cables?

What are the safety requirements for using car cables?

A cable is usually a rope-like cable consisting of several conductors or groups of conductors, each insulated from each other, usually wrapped around a center with a highly insulated covering. Set in the air or underground, underwater, for telecommunications or power transmission. Cables can be divided into vehicle cables, communication cables and control cables according to their use. So when we use car cables, are there any safety requirements? The details are as follows:

Safety requirements when using car cables:

1. Simulate various situations that may be encountered in the assembly and use of automotive cable harnesses, establish and continuously improve test methods, and improve the reliability of automotive electrical systems.

2. On the basis of ensuring good insulation performance, automotive cables should have high heat resistance and aging resistance, and should have low smoke flame retardant characteristics when burning, so as to ensure that loss and damage are minimized.

3. The result of high current transmission leads to high power consumption and heating of components, so the design of automotive cables is to withstand higher temperatures, and it can be seen that the temperature requirements have a further trend of increase.

4. The car cable itself does not need shielding, because it does not transmit data like other cables, but it is necessary to prevent or reduce the high-frequency radiation generated by the switching power supply in the system to be induced by the cable to the surrounding components. The main difference between commonly used automotive cables is that the frame needs to be designed with a voltage rating of 600V, and if applied to commercial vehicles and buses, the rated voltage can reach 1000V. In contrast, the voltage may be higher. The cables used in cars powered by internal combustion engines today are designed to be rated at 60V.
